Frequently asked questions

When does Nightrider take place?

The event will take place over the night of 11 – 12 June 2022.

Start time: Approxmiately 22:00 (T.B.C)

If you are cycling the 100km route you can plan for 6-8 hours. This accounts for stopping at the breakpoints en-route. If you are on the 50km route you will be 3-4 hours. You must be able to complete the total distance in 10 hours.

Where does the event start and finish?

The ride starts from the iconic Lee Valley VeloPark in Stratford where London held the 2012 Olympics.

You will start with a 1mile lap of the road circuit before heading out towards north London. The cycle ride will finish where you begin making your journey there and home even simpler!

What is the cost to sign up?

Sign up and get your place for £35 and fundraise a minimum of £175 for Team Police Care UK. Our team can help you set up a page to help promote your challenge!

How old do I have to be to take part?

The minimum age for participants is 16. Those under 18 will need to provide a letter of consent from a parent/guardian. Please contact the Nightrider team to get a consent form or simply send a signed letter of consent.

Are refreshments provided?

You can stop off at one of the designated break stops every 25km where snacks and water are offered.

When you reach the finish line you will be offered a breakfast to refuel you for your onward journey (meat and vegetarian options provided).

Is my bike suitable?

The most suitable bike is the one you have trained on. A lightweight road or hybrid bike is the recommendation. If you are used to riding a mountain bike you are welcome to take that but be aware they are much heavier and therefore you’ll need more energy!

Nightrider recommend all bikes are serviced ahead of the ride and advise everyone to pack a small puncture repair kit and any spare parts you think you might need. For safety reasons both front and rear bike lights are compulsory.

Nightrider provide bike mechanics on the night, and you will be given the contact details for their roaming mechanics in case you run in to any difficulty on the route.

Is there transport between the start and finish?

Nightrider begins and ends in the Lee Valley VeloPark located within the Olympic Park in StratfordEast London.

Stratford has fantastic transport links across London as well as mainline trains. London Underground operate a 24 hour service on the weekend so you will have no problems getting to and from the venue!

The Night Tube runs on Fridays and Saturdays on the Victoria, Jubilee, and most of the Central, Northern and Piccadilly lines.

It is advisable to plan your journey ahead of time by going to the TfL website.
