Suicide awareness and prevention

Suicide within policing has become a real concern, and Police Care UK believes there is a need to equip people with the tools, knowledge, and techniques to help prevent suicides in police colleagues.

The Police Care UK Seminar series on suicide awareness and prevention is delivered in partnership with PIPS Programmes and is designed to equip participants with basic suicide prevention skills and information around supporting a colleague who may be at higher risk. The seminar discusses why your colleagues may develop thoughts of suicide, highlights the warning signs to look out for, provides a better understanding of suicide and depression, and gives you the tools needed to better help and support both yourself and your colleagues. The final part of the programme covers maintaining your own mental health – focusing on emotional resilience skills which may help reduce the risk of developing issues such as depression.

Police Care UK will provide a Wellbeing Grant to pay for a Suicide Awareness and Prevention Seminar in your force area for your serving police personnel. Complete an enquiry form and we'll tell you what you need to do next.
